The Green Door

You have a shelf for the long journeys — the maps, the appendices, the paperback you've re-read so many times the spine has gone soft. Somewhere on it, there is a cat.

The Emerald Journey is deep forest green velvet with white lettering and a gold ring on the cover, mounted flat to the wall beside the books it belongs with. Hung low, about 65 cm off the floor, so she can hop straight in without a running start.

A round green door of her own, essentially.
